MBF’S AMBASSADORS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
ooking at the excellence of the latest matric results, this community boasts youth with a lot of potential. Not everybody has the means to attend tertiary institutions. MBF therefore appeal to business, to give our local youth the chance to start their careers and gain work experience as volunteers. We are also aware of a number of graduates whom are currently seeking employment which is a scarce commodity in our region.
While Mafube Business Forum (MBF) are not in a position to offer internships and currently have no vacancies, we possess as an organisation and among our members, a wealth of knowledge and experience in various fields which we would gladly impart to students and work seekers. Our objective is to through exposure to the intricacies of business and real world issues, empower young people in particular, to afford them opportunities to engage in entrepreneurship or to equip them for employment. In terms of our constitution:
“MBF support social development, which is about improving the well-being of every individual in Mafube so they can reach their full potential. The success of society is linked to the well-being of each and every citizen. We want to invest in people. It requires the removal of barriers so that all citizens can journey toward their dreams with confidence and dignity.”
With the above in mind, we’ve introduced MBF’s Ambassador program for persons between 18 and 34 years, who will actively assist our organisation on a volunteer basis, with particular focus on addressing the unemployment situation. MBF offer to our Ambassadors, the following benefits:
• gaining real work experience in a business environment; • meaningful involvement with the community; • mentorship to provide guidance, feedback, receptiveness, and models professionalism; • gain experience and skills in a business field of their choice; • access to IT and the internet; • develop professional contacts; • gain exposure to real world problems; • receive an orientation to company mission and goals, company rules, regulations and procedures, • building their CVs; and • having their energy, opinions and savvy appreciated.
MBF EMPLOYMENT DESK
Independent sources estimate the unemployment rate among Mafube residents to be as high as 89%. This is an alarming statistic and requires an urgent concerted effort from all stakeholders. It is the view of MBF that government cannot be relied on to effect any meaningful reduction of the unemployment rate in our region – it is rather up to our own community. Our volunteer Ambassadors, having first-hand experience in this regard will operate the Employment Desk under supervision, with access to human resources specialists and relevant organisations.
